June 8 Report

Monday

Click for Map Today I changed routes I left the Bubbly Route and will be with the Amusing Route this evening. I didn't leave the "B" route thought until I had enjoyed the breakfast in Hoxie served by the "power Lifters" group and then a few miles down the road I had to stop and visit the restored Cottonwood Ranch where the ladies of Studley had Studley T-shirts for sale as well as cookies, rolls and drinks for sale.

After I left the ranch I stopped in Moreland where I saw the mural on the bank wall along with the comic book collection and also just had to sample a $3,00 Percy Burger. Reallllllllyyyyy big After leaving Moreland I proceeded to Hill City where I was hailed by a group of bikers and they told me that they had taken someone to the hospital that had fallen. I went to the hospital where I found Carl Peck being check by the very competent staff in the Hill City Hospital. They found that Carl had cracked a second rib on his left side. They put him in a sling and sent him on his way. I then proceeded to Russell where shortly after I parked at the school Dave Rohr came to me saying that a lady had fallen just within sight of the school. She had tangled with a wide crack in the street and had fallen. She took quite a hit on her helmet, the liner was cracked and did show some compression. That was enough excitement for one day.

We got up this morning after a good shower last night to light sprinkles. After breakfast the sun started shining and of course the wind picked up a little. Unfortunately the wind seemed to be in our face for most of the day. The temperatures were in the low 70's most of the day. Not bad for this time of the year. Most of the riders are having a really good time and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Most of them don't know about Lake Wilson and the surrounding small mountains. I am sure they will enjoy the downhills that they will have tomorrow.
