June 7 Report

Sunday

Amber Fechter, Bubbly Route Director

Click for MapSunday June seventh. What a day!! The lights awoke me in the Gymnasium around 7:00 a.m. Breakfast was great, provided by the Ambassadors Club in Oakley. Around 8:30 a.m., a church service was held in the Gym by a local and the music was lead by Anne Anderson. Our Bubbly route sounded wonderful. The weather bright and early in the morning seemed to be perfect; after everyone loaded their luggage on the big yellow truck, the wind picked up and blew most of us on down the road approximately 18.52 miles averaging about 30mph. The rest of the day, the wind smacked us in the face and on the side slowing us down immensely. At the town of Hoxie, the Presbyterian Church served ice cream sundae's and wonderful cake. Like I said before, what a day!! --A.F.

[Here I sit in Larry's beautiful hotel room with orange and green nasty speckled carpet. I think how lucky I am, as I take a deep breath and smell a strong deodorized scent. Oh the snores in the Gym aren't the greatest, but it beats the loud parties that Larry complains about at the hotels. Us bikers really are quite lucky. A vacation where we can just ride our bikes for about half a day and then totally relax. Massage therapist rub you down as you go into a deep state of sleep. Wow!! Larry isn't as fortunate as us. He gets the hard beds and while he is in the shower he can't maintain an intellectual conversation with the person next to him. He is a loner while the rest of us are tight and together comfortably!!! BAK is the best and I have to thank Larry, Norma, and Sherry for all of the suffering they go through for us (The bikers on BAK). --A.F.]

Well another year has come and somehow I ended up here in the middle of Kansas again. You would think that after seven years I would learn that I shouldn't let the bus drop me off in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a weeks worth of clothes and a vehocal that requires me to do the work. This year I have instructions from my parents not to end my trip in an ambulance. Which is why I am here typing instead of out running around, Larry seems to think that buy having me here will keep me out of trouble ( yea right ! ). So when Larry reads this he may decied that I need to visit his computer again this week. So till then I'll do what I can to cause as much havoc as possible.--B.T.
