We moved into the rolling hills of Eastern Kansas today and even had
a few raindrops this morning. Depending how early each rider left their
overnight town, they either avoided the rain completely or got drenched
for a while. By mid-day, the skies had cleared and we were back to our
hot and humid weather.
The
B Route enjoyed a lunch at Randolph, while the A riders had a traditional
stop at Barnes in the United Methodist Church. The City of Waterville
served both the B and A routes with ice cream and a potato bar. K route
riders passed through Fort Riley and had lunch in Manhattan.
The town of Clifton was a popular stop on the A route, with the folks
at What Not City serving popsicles and plenty of hospitality.
This
evening, the B route is staying in Frankfort, the A in Blue Rapids and
the K in Wamego. Tomorrow afternoon, all 3 routes will come back together
in Holton in preparation for the final 44 miles to the state line in
Atchison on Saturday.
