Day number four on BAK turned out to be the best yet with gentler winds
and greener scenery. The B route rode from Stockton to Beloit, A route
from Plainville to Lincoln, and the K from Hays to Ellsworth.
The day started a bit overcast, but gradually cleared off and heated
up to nearly 100 degrees. Riders on the A route stopped to see the unusal
Garden of Eden house in Lucas. All the routes rode into "Post Rock
Country" today and saw fence posts made from native Kansas stone.
We had a real Kansas experience in Lincoln (A route) this afternoon
when a storm with heavy rains moved into the area around 4:00 pm. A
tornado warning was issued for Lincoln county and riders on the A route
were told to go into the locker rooms for shelter. They experienced
close quarters and even more camraderie until the all clear was sounded.
