BAK 2020 Canceled

March 31, 2020

BAK Family,

It is with very heavy hearts that we are forced to announce that the BAK 2020 tour is canceled due to restrictions and concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

First, your health and wellness along with the health and wellness of the people in the communities we travel through and stay in are our highest priority.

Second, government restrictions and guidelines are tightening almost daily, which is making it impossible to coordinate pre-planning tasks and making it prohibitive to stay at Kansas schools in June.

The BAK board of directors has voted unanimously to refund your registration fees minus $30 per person, which will help cover a portion of the expenses BAK has already incurred (e.g., credit card processing, travel expenses to scout the route and visit host cities, various administrative costs, etc.).

We ask for your patience and grace as we process refunds as this will take time. Once we have processed your respective refund, you will receive an email from a BAK team member.

With all registrations being canceled and refunded, the Black Friday free jersey offer is also canceled, and we will not be producing a custom jersey this year.

Those who paid for a jersey and/or additional merchandise with their registration or a jersey through the bak.org store will receive a full refund for those items.

If you registered and paid for Bubba’s Pampered Pedalers or a chartered bus departing from/returning to Lenexa (Kansas City area) or Wichita, you will be hearing directly from these service providers very soon.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars now for BAK 2021, which will take place June 5-12, 2021.

In the meantime, let’s continue to encourage and motivate one another on the Biking Across Kansas Discussion and Photography Facebook page. Also, continue to check the Biking Across Kansas Facebook event page, Instagram posts, and Twitter feed for ongoing updates, profiles of our BAK family and experiences, and maybe even some fun highlights during the week of June 6-13, 2020.

If you have any questions, please contact Stefanie Weaver, executive director, at director@bak.org or 913.735.3035.

We will greatly miss seeing you and creating BAK moments with you in June!

Enjoy bicycling in the fresh air—and (if riding with others), remember to maintain the social distancing recommendation of six feet.
